Japanese boxwood pair of hares (usagi 兎) with fine details to their fur and inlaid mother-of-pearl eyes ringed with horn, signed with incised characters in a rectangular reserve Sukeyuki 亮之, late Meiji-Taisho Period, with original tomobako.

The Hare is the fourth sign of the Japanese Zodiac and is considered to be a symbol of luck and fertility.
