Japanese pair of bronze vases decorated with five koi carps swimming beneath the surface, their eyes inlaid in shakudo and gold, signed with chiselled characters Shizan 紫山 and bearing inscription gift from the village of Subashiri-Mura in Shizuoka near Mount Fuji
君臣國光勝贈、村走須, late Meiji Period.

The Japanese koi is symbolic of good luck and perseverance.
